Sports play a variety of roles in people’s lives. Everyone interprets it differently; for some, sports are a way to keep their minds and bodies in good shape. Others will tell you that they play sports for fun, and others will tell you that sports are a great way to pass the time. People who do not compete in any of the world’s sports but are well-versed in all of them exist. This is because they only like sports but do not want to compete in them. But how can they be so certain about any sport when they don’t play or watch it regularly? This is because they have access to the internet and read all of the latest news on their favourite popular sport.

Today I’ll be sharing some of the most popular sports in the world, but first, we must define what “popular” means in this context. The most famous sports are those that are the most-watched, played, and produce the most revenue in the world. There are several standards used to identify which sports are the most well-known and watched.

All you need is a football, a field, and some awesome mates, and you’re ready to play football. Football has 270 million teams, making it the popular sport with the greatest number of competitors.

Who doesn’t like cricket? Everyone in the world enjoys playing or watching the game. It has 2.5 billion followers all over the world. It is the most common in the United Kingdom, former British colonies, India, and Pakistan. Cricket is very popular sport in that region. They use cricket to represent their joy.

Cricket teams consist of 11 players. It consists of two teams, similar to soccer, a bat and ball, and a field to produce runs and take wickets. A long rectangular pitch is provided for players to use a bat and ball on. It is not the same as soccer.

This popular sport is followed by I billion people from all over the world. Nothing is surprising in surprising upsets. Roger Federer and Serena Williams are now the two most famous players in tennis history. Women’s tennis has outranked men’s tennis for the last few years in terms of TV viewership. Tennis is regularly shown at the Olympics that has made it a sport that is globally watched.

Volleyball is game where two opposite team as are separate via a long rectangular net and one team try to volley a ball onto the ground of the opposite team to score. This particular game has a fan base of 900 million. Most of the fans of volleyball are found in North America, Western Europe, and Asia too. It is most evenly spread in terms of popularity.

Hockey

Ice and field hockey are the two forms of hockey, and both are common sports around the world. It boasts a global fan base of 2.2 billion people. It is most common in the United Kingdom, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. However, ice hockey is more common in Canada, the United States, and northern Europe. Hockey does not produce as much income as the previous two sports.

This game consists of two teams attempting to use a hockey stick to put the ball into the opposing team’s net. In comparison to ice hockey, there is less body contact in field hockey.

Basketball is a trendy and a popular sport that was invented by an American-Canadian teacher, James Naismith in the 18th century. It has an estimated 400 million fans all over the world. It is a faced paced sport played by two teams. Here two teams attempt to dribble a ball in the net court and shoot it into raised, hope-shaped net. The most fan base of basketball is from Japan, Canada, the USA, and china. But now it is rapidly increasing in the world and picking up a strong fan base. It has faster viewership gains than that of baseball or football.

Sports have existed for as long as human existence. It is gaining popularity by the day. In sports, several new movements have occurred in recent decades.
